Javier García Martínez

 

Javier García Martínez, catedrático y director del Laboratorio de Nanotecnología Molecular de la Universidad de Alicante, España, es uno de los conferencistas invitados al CLAQ 2014. En su laboratorio de investigación el equipo que el lidera centra sus trabajos en la síntesis, caracterización y aplicación de nanomateriales. Aplicando la química de materiales, nanotecnología y la ingeniería química su grupo de investigación produce una serie de nuevos materiales con aplicaciones catalíticas, así como en la producción y almacenamiento de energía.




  
Nuestro conferencista invitado es autor de un buen número de artículos, libros y capítulos de libros científicos muy especializados. Entre los más recientes, cabe citar “Nanotechnology for the Energy Challenge” Wiley-VCH (2010) y “The Chemical Element: Chemistry Contributions to our Global Challenges” Wiley-VCH (2011).

La brillante trayectoria científica de Javier García Martínez  en el desarrollo de nuevos nanomateriales para aplicaciones energéticas, lo ha llevado a incursionar con gran éxito  en la innovación, así como en  la actividad  empresarial en nanotecnología. El es co-fundador de la empresa de base tecnológica RiveTechnology.  Es el inventor de más de una veintena de patentes en aplicación comercial en el campo de nanomateriales, responsable creador de un buen número de artículos y libros en nanotecnología, ya antes mencionado. Sumándose conjuntamente  su  excelente desempeño como conferencista es siempre invitado en diversas universidades y congresos internacionales.      

Es actualmente,  vicepresidente del Consejo de Tecnologías Emergentes del Foro Económico Mundial de Davos, participa asimismo como miembro del Foro de Young Global Leaders y del bureau de la IUPAC (Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry). Es asesor de la Comisión Europea para temas innovación y emprendimiento, y experto y evaluador del European Institute of Technology and Innovation (EIT) desde 2009.

Javier García Martínez, gran científico,  tiene como objetivo e interés que la nanotecnología sea un agente decisivo en el desarrollo socioeconómico de los países, así como aplicar esa tecnología  en la producción, uso y ahorro de energía. En la Sociedad Química del Perú estamos muy honrados con su participación como conferencista en el CLAQ 2014.

“Latin America unified toward a sustainable chemistry”

Dear Colleagues:

Continuing its important and vital institutional mission, the Peruvian Chemical Society (Sociedad Química del Perú, SQP), sponsored by the Latin American Federation of Chemical Associations (Federación Latinoamericana de Asociaciones Químicas, FLAQ) organizes the 31^st Latin American Chemistry Congress and the XXVII Peruvian Chemistry Congress, to be held from  October 14 to October 17, 2014 at the Sheraton Lima Hotel & Convention Center in Lima, Peru .

Both events will take place through:

Plenaries and Conferences, which will be handled by specialists mainly from Latin America and will focus on issues of great importance to our region.

Roundtables, which will discuss topics of interest, such as: university educations in chemistry, green chemistry, food security, the future of the research in Latin America, the Latin American collaborative research between institutions, the relationship  between chemistry and society, among others.

Research papers to be submitted in the form of posters, where specialists have a means to expose their research, make suggestions and academic contacts.

Courses, conducted  by specialists in order to update the knowledge of chemists.

            The FLAQ and the SQP, as always, through this CLAQ -2014, will serve as a meeting point where Latin American chemists will expose their research and will establish collaborations between academics, professionals and students.

The submitted abstracts of research must be original and would cover issues related to the different sections of the Congress. The authors of the abstracts should   paid for their registration, depending on the date of the submission to the Scientific Director. It has been enabled the electronic mail claq2014@gmail.com  for the exclusive use of researches to guide them in more detail.

The registration fee entitles you to submit up to two research papers.

Un brillante cientifico que triunfa en el extranjero: Carlos Bustamante Monteverde

La Sociedad Química de Perú (SQP), los invita a participar en el 31° Congreso Latinoamericano de Química (CLAQ-2014). Este año tenemos como conferencista invitado, al reconocido científico peruano Carlos Bustamante Monteverde, uno de los más brillantes investigadores peruanos, doctor en ciencias obtenido en la Universidad de California, Berkeley donde actualmente se desempeña como investigador y profesor principal de la cátedra compartida de Biología Molecular y Celular, Física y Química. 

       

El doctor Bustamante se ha destacado por sus descubrimientos pioneros en el campo de la biología molecular y biofísica. Entre ellos, puede nombrarse la invención de herramientas que permiten estudiar los procesos celulares de soporte vital en las moléculas individuales.

Sus métodos permiten trabajar con las moléculas individuales que desempeñan funciones centrales dentro de las células, y dar a los científicos de la biomedicina una comprensión mayor de algunos de los procesos vitales que se producen dentro de dichas células.

Su laboratorio  está desarrollando dichos métodos de manipulación de moléculas individuales tales como pinzas ópticas y magnéticas con el propósito de caracterizar la elasticidad de ADN para inducir el despliegue mecánico de la proteína individual y moléculas de ARN. El trabajo del doctor Bustamante, además de sentar las bases para la posibilidad de futuros tratamientos para las enfermedades humanas mortales, ha permitido usar herramientas que permiten observar con mayor grado de precisión las interacciones moleculares en las células.

El Premio Vilcek es solamente uno de los muchos premios obtenidos por el doctor Bustamante, ya que fue nombrado uno de "Los mejores de América" por la revista Time en el 2011, y miembro de la Academia Nacional de Ciencias en el 2002. También recibió el Premio en Física Biomédica de la Sociedad Americana de Física en el 2002, y el Premio Alexander Hollaender en Biofísica de la Academia Nacional de Ciencias en el 2004.

Como es evidente este es un breve resumen de la trayectoria académica de nuestro prestigioso invitado, y nos sentimos honrados de compartir con la comunidad científica Latinoamericana que asistirá al CLAQ 2014 las últimas investigaciones de tan brillante científico.
